Portsmouth Association for the Blind

On Friday 29th of June, we visited Portsmouth Association for the Blind. There, they explained us the disadvantages blind people have to move around. They showed us different objects to help blind people and how to use them. There was a kitchen especially designed for blind people, with a microwave and a scale with a voice.

We also walked blindfolded using a stick and tried different ways of writing (we learnt the difference between Braille and Moon) or painting with perfumed felt tip pens (each colour had a different perfume).

We wrote in Braille with a special typewriter and with a pin. There were many more things, such as clocks, computers, telephones and calculators adapted for the blind.

Finally, they invited us with orange juice.
