Visit to the Independent Housing Advice for Disabled People

On Monday 2nd we went to the Independent Housing Advice Centre for Disabled People. When we arrived there, a man and a woman explained us the different devices to help them in the kitchen, the toilet, the stairs and the office. We were separated in two groups. They showed us the different kitchen furniture: the cupboards were lower than usual, the oven can be opened to the left and to the right, but not downwards. There was a free space below the sink for the wheelchair to approach.

They showed us the toilet, with different possibilities of buttons to flush.

We saw the stairs. There was a mechanical chair that went up or down, either on the left or on the right. It had some buttons or levers for the directions.

There was a telephone for deaf people in the office. There was also a lamp for the deaf that lit up when someone was at the door.

Finally, we tried the wheelchairs.
